Four in court after investigation into drug supply at Broken Hill

Three men and a woman will appear in court today charged following an investigation into the supply of illicit drugs in the state's Far West.

Last year, officers attached to Barrier Police District established Strike Force Herarde to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine in the Broken Hill area.

During the course of the investigation, police seized more than 500g of methylamphetamine and more than 1000 MDMA pills.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators, assisted by Western Region Operations Support Group, the Dog Unit, and DV High Risk Offender Team, executed search warrants at five properties at Broken Hill from 7am yesterday (Monday 26 October 2020).

During the searches, police located methylamphetamine, cannabis, ammunition, electronic devices and cash. The items were seized for forensic examination.

Three men – aged 28, 30 and 31 – and a 25-year-old woman were arrested during the operation and all taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

The 28-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity x2), possess prohibited drug, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 30-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (x2), supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity x2), and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 31-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity x2), supply prohibited drug (small quantity), possess prohibited drug, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, firearm found at premises- subject to prohibition order, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 25-year-old woman was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity x3), possess prohibited drug (x3), and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

They were all refused bail to appear at Broken Hill Local Court today (Tuesday 27 October 2020).
