Homes evacuated due fire - Kingsford

Several homes have been evacuated as a precaution due to a fire in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

Emergency services were called to Strachan Street at Kingsford about 7.15pm (Saturday 7 November 2020), after a granny flat and a shed in a neighbouring yard were seen alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze as officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command evacuated neighbouring homes as a precaution.

A 14-year-old girl has been taken to hospital to be checked after suffering shock and the effects of smoke inhalation. There have been no other injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
