Inmate charged over violent threats at correctional facility at Lithgow

A man will face court tomorrow charged with weapon offences after an alleged confrontation at a Lithgow correctional facility.

On Wednesday 28 October 2020, an inmate was using a telephone at the correctional facility when he allegedly produced two gaol-made weapons and threatened another inmate.

Correctional officers intervened, seizing the weapons and police were notified.

Following inquiries, investigators from the Criminal Groups Squad's Strike Force Raptor attended a correctional facility at Parklea earlier today (Wednesday 2 December 2020), and arrested a 28-year-old man.

He was charged with armed with intent commit indictable offence and affray.

The man was remanded in custody to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 3 December 2020).
