Men released as homicide investigate death in Bentleigh East

Two men who were assisting police with their enquiries following the death of a man in Bentleigh East have been released from custody.

The men have been released without charge pending further enquiries.

Homicide squad detectives continue to investigate the incident which occurred this morning at an apartment complex on St Georges Avenue about 2am after reports of an alleged stabbing.

Investigators have been told two men attended the property and entered an underground car park.

The pair were confronted by two residents of the complex and a struggle ensued.

A 46-year-old Cheltenham man suffered life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital while the other man ran off.

The second man, a 37-year-old from Cheltenham was located and assisted detectives with their enquiries.
