New funding to deliver canteen, facilities for showground's Naylor Pavillion

Improvements to the Naylor Pavilion at the Orange Showground will begin this year, following today's half-million dollar NSW Government funding announcement.

Upper House MP Sam Farraway today announced $511,087 for Orange Showground to upgrade its Naylor Pavilion by installing new toilet and cafeteria facilities.

The project is one of six regional showgrounds to benefit from the total $1.035 million announcement under the NSW Government's COVID-19 stimulus program.

FUNDING : A grant worth more than a half a million dollars will deliver an upgrade to the Naylor Pavillion. Upper House MP Sam Farraway and Orange Mayor Reg Kidd met with members of the Show Society for today's announcement.

"It's fantastic to report that the stimulus program will back more improvement works in the region while supporting jobs and the economy," Mr Farraway said. "It is particularly pleasing to see that the Naylor Pavilion will finally be able to be the multifunction facility it was built to be with over $500,000 in funding to install toilet facilities and build a cafeteria."

"I know that Peter and the Orange Show Society have worked hard over many years to ensure that Naylor Pavilion will provide new opportunities for the Orange Show, and also for other events across the region and it is just amazing to be able to see this funding come through," Mr Farraway said.

Orange Show Society President Peter Naylor said that he was grateful for the support of the NSW Government for this project.

"These works will open new opportunities and more frequents usage of Naylor Pavilion. Previously event organisers have been hesitant to hire the building because of the lack of toilet facilities and basic canteen amenities."

"Now we can properly open the doors to this place and make it a great venue for many local events, and even events from outside of Orange."

"Orange Show Society had approached Orange City Council for the funding but now with this announcement by the NSW Government we can get to work right away, with the aim of having the pavilion ready to go for next year's Orange Show," Mr Naylor said.

Orange Mayor Cr Reg Kidd said that this funding announcement was a game changer for the future of the Orange Showground.

"With toilets and a cafeteria area, we will be able to use Naylor Pavilion more often and open up this great space to attract even more events to the region."
