Police arrest man after stabbing at Wynyard

A man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed a man during a fight in Sydney's CBD yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a licensed premises on York Street, Wynyard, following reports of an assault about 6pm last night (Thursday 5 November 2020).

Police will allege the 19-year-old man was among five men who became involved in an argument with staff before he stabbed an employee, a 34-year-old man, and fled the scene.

The 34-year-old suffered stab wounds to his back and side and was treated on scene before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

A short time later, three men – aged 31, 29 and 34 – were arrested nearby and are now charged before the courts.

Following further inquiries, the 19-year-old man was arrested at Green Valley Police Station before he was transferred to Liverpool Police Station.

Inquiries continue.
