Police charge man after cameras found in toilets

Portland CIU have charged a man following an investigation into the installation of cameras in public bathrooms.

It is alleged that since January this year the man attended public toilets and showers in the Portland area and filmed multiple victims without their knowledge, taking intimate images.

Earlier today, Detectives from Portland CIU executed a search warrant at the man's home. A laptop computer and mobile phone allegedly containing intimate images were seized.

The 38-year-old Portland man was interviewed at the Portland Police Station and has been charged with 147 offences, including using an optical surveillance to device to capture a private activity and criminal damage.

He has been bailed to appear at the Portland Magistrates' Court on 2 March 2021.
