Four people will appear in court today charged following a public place shooing and affray in Sydney's west yesterday.
About 1.40pm (Thursday 24 June 2021), officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended a house in Joseph Street, Kingswood, after reports of shots being fired.
Upon arrival, officers arrested a 50-year-old woman and two men – aged 49 and 33. They were taken to Penrith Police Station.
The younger man was later taken to Nepean Hospital for observation under police guard.
Police were told a fourth person left the scene prior to police arrival.
Following inquiries, officers attended Epping Place at Cambridge Park just before 2.30pm, where they attempted to stop a Honda Odyssey. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle stopped in nearby Barry Street and the driver fled on foot. A 32-year-old man was arrested after a short foot pursuit and taken to St Marys Police Station.
Crime scenes were established at both homes and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During searches of the homes, police seized two firearms from Joseph Street, and a firearm, baseball bat and cannabis from Epping Place.
The woman was charged with affray, possess unregistered firearm – prohibited firearm, fire firearm in or near public place.
The 49-year-old man was charged with affray and possess unregistered firearm – prohibited firearm.
The 32-year-old man was charged with affray, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm – pistol, not keep firearm safely – pistol and possess prohibited drug.
Upon release from hospital, the 33-year-old man was taken back to Penrith Police Station and charged with affray and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).
Police will allege in court that an altercation occurred between the woman and men, before the woman allegedly discharged a firearm.
They were all refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today (Friday 25 June 2021).
