Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. Colin Kahl met with Incoming Chief of the Israeli General Staff Maj. Gen. Herzi Halevi, Dec. 6.
The conversation reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the United States and Israel, the U.S. commitment to ensure Israel's Qualitative Military Edge, and continued U.S. and Israeli efforts to confront threats posed by Iran. The leaders also discussed opportunities presented by Israel's entrance into U.S. Central Command, and steps to increase bilateral military cooperation.
Under Secretary Kahl expressed condolences for recent terror attacks in Jerusalem, recognizing Israel's right to defend itself and the importance of stabilizing the security situation in the West Bank.
