Vaccination requirements at City facilities

Acting CEO Gareth Smith

Reducing risks to our customers, community and employees – and meeting our legal and Occupational Health and Safety requirements – is central to how we operate.

Following an extensive risk assessment, the City of Greater Geelong has determined that visitors are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to access our facilities.

This means visitors will be allowed to enter after they have shown evidence that:

  • they have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine; or
  • they have a valid medical exemption to COVID-19 vaccination, issued by an authorised medical practitioner; or
  • they are aged under 16.

The requirement will help provide a safer workplace, reduce the risk for anyone working or attending one of our facilities, and maintain our level of service to the community.

An exception is in place for our Maternal and Child Health service.

To mitigate the risk of delivering valuable assistance to vulnerable families, a range of other COVID-Safe measures will be used to reduce the risk of transmission.

With more than 95 per cent of eligible residents receiving a COVID-19 vaccination, it is clear that Greater Geelong residents are determined to protect themselves and each other.

All of us can continue to minimise our risk by accessing services in the safest way.

For our general Customer Service inquiries or requests, we recommend contacting us via phone, email, our website or our app.

Details of these can be found here.

We continue to encourage visitors to interact with our employees positively, and to treat them with respect.

We are reinforcing this message through a 'Kind people are our kind of people' campaign, which is being rolled out at facilities and in print and digital media this week.
