Winthrop armed robbery arrest

Regional Investigations Unit detectives have charged a teenager as a result of their investigation into an incident in Winthrop on Monday, 2 November 2020.

It is alleged the male teenager entered a supermarket on Somerville Boulevard just after 7pm. It is further alleged he had a knife and threatened a staff member whilst demanding cash.

As the teenager was fleeing the store with a sum of cash he ran through a glass sliding entry door. He received a deep laceration to his leg and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.

It is further alleged the teenager fled the scene in a vehicle stolen from a home in Ardross earlier in the week.

The 15-year-old from Brentwood has been charged with:

• Aggravated Armed Robbery; and

• Steal Motor Vehicle.

He is due to appear before the Perth Children's Court on 10 November 2020.
