Car crashes into Stobie pole at Thebarton, South Australia

A suspected drink driver crashed his car into a Stobie pole at Thebarton this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of James Street and Light Terrace, Thebarton just before 5am on Tuesday 1 December after residents heard a loud crash.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Bedford Park, was the only occupant of the vehicle.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. A sample of his blood will be taken and, pending analysis, he may face charges of drink driving, aggravated driving without due care and driving unlicensed.

The grey Kia station wagon was towed from the scene.
