The Sturt Street doors to the Ballarat Town Hall will reopen today for the first time since they were closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Town Hall will open with the Visitor Centre returning to the site to provide assistance to visitors.
The Phoenix building has recently been home to the Visitor Centre while maintenance works were carried out in the Town Hall.
It's the first time the Sturt Street doors of the Town Hall have reopened to the public since 23 March.
As restrictions continue to ease, both the Town Hall and Phoenix will provide limited face-to-face services in line with DHHS guidelines.
Other City of Ballarat office staff continue to work from home in accordance with the Victorian Government's restrictions.
Council meetings, Committee meetings and all internal staff meetings will continue to be held online due to space requirements until restrictions are further eased.
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Daniel Moloney says it's exciting to be able to reopen the doors to both the Town Hall and the Phoenix to the community, in line with restrictions.
"Ballarat Town Hall has been at the centre of social and community life in Ballarat since the first Town Hall was built in 1856.
"It's fantastic that we can reopen the doors to the community again to provide a range of limited face-to-face services for our residents and visitors."
Since the start of the pandemic, the Ballarat community has taken advantage of a range of online services at the City of Ballarat, such as online payments, online forms and webchat, which is now being trialled. Any customers who would prefer not to physically attend the City of Ballarat are encouraged to continue to use the online channels.
The new opening time of 8.30am at the Phoenix, replacing the former 8.15am opening time, will enable a pre-start disinfect of the Customer Service area.
