With full capacity crowds back for round one of the AFL Premiership season, footy fans are reminded that public transport is a great option for getting to and from the game.
More than 75,000 fans are expected at the MCG on Wednesday night, as reigning premiers Melbourne go head-to-head with the Western Bulldogs.
There will be extra train services before and after the season opener, operating to and from Richmond, Jolimont and Flinders Street stations.
Additional tram services will also run from Flinders Street to Melbourne Arena as Route 70a and to Jolimont Station as Route 75a.
Route 48 trams will divert on to Flinders St to provide additional service between Flinders St Station and Jolimont / Wellington Parade for the Wednesday night opener, and the rest of the round's MCG matches.
Those attending Friday's night's clash between St Kilda and Collingwood at Marvel Stadium can take a train to the nearby Southern Cross Station, just a short walk via the Bourke Street footbridge. Trams on routes 11, 12, 48, 30, 86 and 35 service stops near the stadium.
Passengers are encouraged to check the PTV website or app for details of planned works affecting some metropolitan and regional trains lined at various times this week.
During round one, 93 extra train services, 222 additional tram services and 13 additional V/Line train services will help get more than 285,000 people to and from games taking place at the MCG and Marvel Stadium.
If footy fans haven't travelled on public transport for a while, they're reminded that they can now check their myki Money balance and top up myki Money instantly using the updated PTV app on their mobile phone.
When travelling on public transport, passengers aged eight years and over are required to wear a fitted face mask, unless they have a lawful reason for not doing so, and must wear it for the entire journey.
There will be road closures on Brunton Avenue on game days, and on Wellington Parade after games to allow safe pedestrian access to and from the MCG.
The VicRoads signals team will be monitoring conditions and will adjust sequences to help balance movements for pedestrians and traffic in the area.
