Girl injured following three vehicle crash, NSW

A critically ill 14-year-old girl was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital after a three vehicle crash at a roadwork site in southern NSW yesterday, NSW Police say.

The crash between a Triton utility, Mitsubishi Lancer and a B-Double occurred about 9am yesterday, on the Sturt Highway approximately five kilometres west of Carrathool.

The 34-year-old male driver of the Triton and his 14-year-old front seat passenger were trapped for some time before being released by emergency services.

Both were airlifted to Melbourne for treatment, where the 14-year-old girl remains in a critical condition.

A 61-year-old man driving the B-Double truck was not injured, but was taken to Hay Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A 68-year-old man driving the Lancer was also not injured and was breath tested at the scene with a negative result.

Police from Griffith Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Sturt Highway was closed for approximately eight hours during the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
