"Even as more organizations than ever before are recognizing the uniquely valuable skills that veterans bring as employees, the efforts of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to recruit, retain, develop and support those who served, as well as their families, stand out from the pack. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is among the very best veteran employers, and its program can serve as a model for others."

"As a veteran, I sought out employers who supported and empowered those who served, and LLNL stood out among the many companies in California," said Katie Pagni, Strategic Military Veterans Program (SMVP) senior administrative specialist. "I am blessed to not only be a part of the LLNL family but also a member of the Strategic Military Veterans Program, where I have the opportunity to work with and assist our military and veteran community. SMVP works with Military Academic Research Associates/ROTC interns, military members on assignment to the Lab, transitioning SkillBridge interns and veterans looking to start their civilian careers after service. I am proud of LLNL's longstanding dedication to veterans and look forward to continuing to support the mission."
Since the Lab's founding, LLNL scientists, engineers, administrative professionals and technicians have forged strong ties with all branches of the military. LLNL proudly supports military students, active/reserve enlisted and commissioned service members and veterans, offering a welcoming environment during and after their years of service. LLNL's mission-driven culture enables military and veteran employees to transition seamlessly from military to civilian life while continuing to contribute to a larger purpose.
"Our relationship with the military and veteran community is truly essential to the success of the Laboratory. We have embraced this through extensive outreach and focused recruiting by partnering across many universities, military bases and organizations that focus on supporting the transition of this highly valued and talented population. Since the inception of SMVP, the Lab's veteran population has more than doubled, reaching a current total of 638 veterans," said SMVP Program Manager Shaun Stephenson.
The Laboratory also participates in the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, which provides military personnel with internship opportunities during their service. Many participants go on to secure full-time positions at LLNL following their internships.
Veterans at LLNL are recognized for their exceptional contributions, including technical expertise, leadership, problem-solving abilities and a strong work ethic. Their skills and dedication continue to play a vital role in advancing the Laboratory's mission-driven initiatives.
