The Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating following a crash in Upper Ferntree Gully this morning (Saturday 27 June).
Investigators have been told a pedestrian was crossing Burwood Highway when he was struck by a BMW station wagon around 12.45am.
A yet to be identified man was treated by paramedics at the scene but has died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
