Police lay charges - Aggravated Robbery - Wanguri

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery in Wanguri on Friday 6 November.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said, "The 18-year-old male was arrested last Friday evening for aggravated robbery after allegedly stealing alcohol from a licensed premises.

"Whilst attempting to escape he allegedly assaulted the shopkeeper and a 7-year-old girl on a bicycle. Thankfully the girl and the shopkeeper did not sustain significant injuries in this frightening encounter."

Serious Crime Squad Detectives investigated the matter and the man was later charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with intent to steal.

He has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 16 December 2020.
