Police lay charges over drug offences in Darwin 18 March

Northern Territory Police have charged a man and woman in relation to drug offences in Darwin yesterday.

At around 12:40pm, Detectives from Drug and Organised Crime executed a search warrant on a residence in Anula. Detectives seized a quantity of methamphetamine and cannabis along with over $60,000 in cash. A 50-year-old female was arrested at the residence.

At around 3:20pm, Detectives executed a separate search warrant on a residence in Muirhead. Detectives seized a quantity of illicit substances along with over $400,000 in cash. A 38-year-old man was arrested at the residence.

The 50-year-old female was later charged with:

  • Supply schedule 1 drug - commercial quantity
  • Possess tainted property
  • Possess schedule 1 drug - trafficable quantity
  • Possess schedule 2 drug - less than trafficable
  • Possess thing to administer drug
  • Possess prohibited weapon

She was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

The 38-year-old man was later charged with:

  • Supply schedule 1 drug - commercial quantity
  • Possess tainted property
  • Supply schedule 2 drug - commercial quantity
  • Possess schedule 2 drug - commercial quantity
  • Unauthorised possession of schedule 4 substance
  • Fail to meet storage requirements
  • Possess fireworks - approved period

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Sergeant Jonathon Spencer said, "Illicit substances, particularly methamphetamine, cause systemic, long lasting harm to our community.

"Drug and Organised Crime will continue to disrupt its supply into the NT and put those who distribute it before the courts."
