Police update: Armed robbery - Southport

Police have charged a 19-year-old man in relation to the alleged armed robbery of a service station at Southport yesterday (June 17).

It is alleged at around 9.40am a man entered the Ferry Road business before taking a number of food items and placing them in a bag he was carrying.

The female store attendant confronted him at which time he allegedly removed an angle grinder from the bag and made threats before leaving the store with items.

A 19-year-old Palm Beach man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and stealing.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
