Ion Apostol, Director for National Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities (NARNRA), and Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed the Republic of Moldova's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2021-2026 on 18 December 2020. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
The Republic of Moldova has been an IAEA Member State since 1997. Its 2021-2026 CPF identifies five priority areas:
- Nuclear and radiation safety and security
- Radioactive waste management
- Health and nutrition
- Water and the environment
- Food and agriculture
