Traffic busting? Traffic bust.

  • Another traffic snarl for commuters
  • Congestion buster MIA
  • Ferguson's trademark kiss of death

Commuters in Hobart faced yet another traffic snarl on the Southern Outlet today, but Michael Ferguson's much-heralded congestion busting truck was nowhere to be seen.

Labor Member for Franklin David O'Byrne said Hobart commuters stuck in traffic this morning can blame Michael Ferguson.

"Adding a fifth lane to the Southern Outlet was a key infrastructure promise from the Liberals during the 2018 election campaign," Mr O'Byrne said.

"But, like so many other infrastructure plans, this project has fallen victim to Michael Ferguson's trademark kiss of death and there's been no progress after two years. And commuters are paying the price.

"Michael Ferguson's bandaid solution was a tow truck on standby on the outlet to deal with any breakdowns or accidents. But it was nowhere to be seen today.

"The Liberal Government has a woeful record of non-delivery of major infrastructure projects, and Tasmanians should be concerned about their stated plan to build a way out of COVID."
