Woman robbed at gunpoint; two charged at Albury

A man and teenage boy have been charged after allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint in the state's south at the weekend.

About 3.30am on Saturday (15 November 2020), a 23-year-old woman was walking along Logan Street, North Albury, when she was approached by two males.

The man allegedly pointed a firearm at the woman and demanded cash. The woman complied and gave the man her backpack, before the pair fled on bicycles.

Police were notified and officers from Murray River Police District commenced inquiries.

A short time later, police attended a home on Bateman Place, North Albury, and established a crime scene. A search of the home revealed cannabis, methylamphetamine, ammunition and the woman's backpack.

Following further inquiries, police attended a motel on Wodonga Place, Albury, about 1.20pm yesterday (Monday 16 November 2020), and arrested a 17-year-old boy and 25-year-old man.

They were taken to Albury Police Station where the teenager was charged with rob while armed with dangerous weapon in company, possess loaded firearm public place, carry firearm manner likely injure person, and possess unauthorised pistol.

He was refused bail to appear in a children's court today (Tuesday 17 November 2020).

The man was charged with rob while armed with dangerous weapon in company, possess loaded firearm public place, carry firearm manner likely injure person, possess unauthorised pistol, and acquire pistol – subject to firearms prohibition order.

He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
