AI For Good Summit, WSIS Forum Spotlighted Post-Dialogue

ITU

The AI for Good Global Summit and WSIS Forum 2026 - both holding formal opening ceremonies today in Geneva, Switzerland - will build on the UN's landmark AI Dialogue by connecting principles with practice on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies.

The first Global Dialogue on AI Governance mandated by the UN General Assembly set the stage for inclusive international cooperation on AI. Now, AI for Good and the WSIS Forum extend the conversation into concrete ways digital tech can benefit all people today and in the future.

"Geneva Digital Week is all about connecting policy discussions and scientific expertise directly to consultations with civil society, the technical community, and real-world AI solutions," said ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin. "As we move from the Dialogue to the AI for Good Summit and WSIS Forum, we are moving from conversation to people-centered action so that AI - and all digital technologies - can benefit everyone, everywhere."

The UN's top spots for AI and digital development

The AI for Good Global Summit is the United Nations' leading platform for identifying, showcasing and scaling real-world AI solutions.

Bringing together the world's leading AI thinkers with the most advanced tech - including agentic AI, robotics and brain-computer interfaces - the Summit shows how artificial intelligence is already improving healthcare, education, food security, disaster response and other vital dimensions of global development.

Fresh from presenting the preliminary findings of the Independent Scientific Panel on AI earlier in the week, panel members will carry the conversation forward at AI for Good with keynote presentations and working group sessions.

And as the AI for Good policy track builds on the Dialogue's work, the first meeting of the AI for Good Global Commission will help define practical pathways to strengthen trust, expand access and unlock AI's potential to solve real-world challenges.

Taking place alongside AI for Good, the WSIS Forum 2026 continues the UN's longest-running multi-stakeholder platform on digital development, with a mandate that was extended last year by the UN General Assembly to 2035.

This year's WSIS Forum is bolstered by a General Assembly resolution that strengthened the global commitment to build a digital future for all and reinforced the Forum's unique role in advancing people-centred digital development and international cooperation.

Like AI for Good, the WSIS Forum is built on inclusivity and multistakeholder consultations. WSIS actively engages civil society not only as participants, but also in shaping the Forum's programme and agenda. The annual WSIS Prizes will honour global efforts to connect digital technologies and development.

The place where the AI and digital tech worlds meet

The AI for Good Global Summit and WSIS Forum are organized by ITU - the UN agency for digital technologies - together with over 50 UN partners and the Swiss Confederation. The WSIS Forum is co-organized with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

With leaders from government, industry, academia, the UN system and civil society working together during AI for Good and the WSIS Forum, Geneva remains the international centre for global efforts on digital technologies.

Thousands of participants from around the world, including hundreds of speakers and tech exhibitors, will pack the Palexpo convention centre during the continuation of Geneva Digital Week.
