The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has always encouraged students to develop in a diverse manner and is committed to nurturing interdisciplinary talents. This year, 16 top HKDSE scorers who achieved an average score of 42 or more in best five subjects, will be admitted to HKU as the President's Scholars.
These high achievers will study for the Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies, , Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) and Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Global Management, Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Economics and Finance, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science, Global Engineering and Business Programme, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences, Science Master Class, as well as Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) and Bachelor of Laws. Each of the President's Scholars will be rewarded with HK$100,000 scholarship or more in recognition of their academic excellence, and to encourage them to continue their pursuit of greater achievements.

HKDSE Top 1% Scholarships promotes diversity exposure
This year, 52 students will receive the "HKDSE Top 1% Scholarships" from the University. Each student will be awarded a scholarship of HK$50,000 or more. The scheme aims to enrich students' learning experiences and to expand their horizons. They could use the scholarship to participate in different activities, such as innovation and technology research, experiential learning and overseas exchange activities.
Continuous triumphant intake with the most top achievers
HKDSE candidates admitted to HKU this year have the highest average scores amongst all universities in Hong Kong, both across all subjects combined regardless of which of the usual admission selection principles are used, as well as in the four core subjects of Chinese, English, Liberal Studies and Mathematics.

HKU Law programmes continue to lead
HKU's law programmes remain in the leading position by admitting the very top students. All 43 candidates in Hong Kong who obtained 42 or more in the best six subjects in HKDSE who applied for law-related programmes have been admitted to the University of Hong Kong.
13 elite athletes to study a variety of programmes
In addition to admitting a number of "Star of the Stars" athletes through the newly established Direct Admission Scheme for Top Athletes programme this year, HKU has also admitted 13 outstanding athletes through the long-standing Sports Scholarship Scheme programme. The athletes excel in different sports such as water polo, shuttlecock, rowing, table tennis, basketball, and squash. The admitted athletes have also achieved excellent academic results, with an average score of 29.6 in best five subjects. They will study a variety of programmes, such as the Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) and Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Chinese Medicine, Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science.
Non-Chinese speaking student admissions ranks top
HKU admitted 86 local non-Chinese speaking students this year, the highest intake among all local universities. The students achieved outstanding HKDSE results, with an average score of 27.7 in best five subjects. They will study the Bachelor of Business Administration / Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance, Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Financial Technology, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Psychology and other programmes.
^ President's Scholars are awarded to candidates with the best HKDSE results in each Faculty (including those with the same score).
*Awardees of the "HKDSE Top 1% Scholarship" must be the top 1% scorer among those who have met the University Entrance Requirements (ie, "332233" in four core subjects and two elective subjects) in this year's HKDSE and have gained admission to HKU successfully.
*Note: All the above points are calculated on the "HKU Scoring System", in which Level 1-4 equals 1-4 points; Level 5 equals 5.5 points; "5*" equals 7 points; "5**" equals 8.5 points.
