The IAEA has an online catalogue of thousands of scientific and technical publications, made available for free download and covering a wide spectrum of topics related to the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. These publications are used by technical experts, scientists and students across the world. With over 4000 publications available, in 2022 IAEA publications were accessed more than 2.2 million times.
The IAEA promotes multilingualism and disseminates scientific and technical content in all the UN official languages. These are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. In 2022 the IAEA issued 98 translations of IAEA publications, and at the end of 2021, a multilingual publications web portal was launched on IAEA.org, making these publications more accessible to a wider international audience.

Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material
This publication is the latest edition of the IAEA Safety Requirements for the safe transport of radioactive material. Over 20 million shipments of radioactive material each year take place by land, sea and air, delivering radioactive material safely for benefits to all in the medical, industrial, nuclear power, agriculture and research sectors - for which its safe transportation is of paramount importance. The publication is supported by six IAEA Safety Guides which provide explanations and guidance about the requirements for harmonized implementation of all regulations. These regulations apply to the transport of radioactive material by all modes on land, water, or in the air, including transport that is incidental to the use of the radioactive material. The publication is also available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources: International Basic Safety Standards
This current edition of the International Basic Safety Standards, takes account of the latest findings of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation, and the latest recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection. It establishes the requirements for the protection of people and the environment from harmful effects of ionizing radiation and for the safety of radiation sources. All circumstances of radiation exposure are considered. The publication is also available in Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
Diagnostic Radiology Physics - A Handbook for Teachers and Students
Training and education in the application of radiation and medicine is one of the ways in which the IAEA addresses worldwide demand in the context of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health conditions. This handbook was produced for students and teachers, and serves as a basis for the education of medical physicists initiating their university studies in the field of diagnostic radiology.
