Police seek information after woman assaulted during home invasion - Hay

An investigation is underway after a woman was assaulted during a home invasion in the state's south west overnight.

Shortly after 7pm (Tuesday 16 June 2020), a woman, aged in her 50s, was at a home on Lang Street, South Hay, when a man knocked on the front door.

When she opened the door, the man forced her to the ground and held her down momentarily before fleeing on foot.

The woman sustained minor cuts to her face as a result of the incident.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man is only described as being approximately 175cm tall, with a medium to solid build and smelt strongly of cigarettes. At the time, he was wearing a dark coloured jumper and is believed to have been wearing track pants.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have witnessed anything at the time of the incident, to come forward.
