The City of Casey celebrated the official opening of Ramlegh Family and Community Centre in Clyde North last week.
With rapid population growth in Clyde North, delivery of this $6.2 million facility will provide much needed infrastructure and help alleviate the existing pressure on surrounding community facilities.
Located at 80 Thoroughbred Drive, Clyde North, the new facility includes three licensed kindergarten rooms with secure outdoor play yards, two Maternal and Child Health consulting rooms, an additional hireable consulting room, along with informal break out spaces for the community to utilise.
The facility also boasts a large hireable multipurpose community room, which includes a semi commercial kitchen and a secure outdoor yard with BBQ facilities.
Since opening to the community in January 2021, the facility has already been providing a wide range of programs and activities, including health and wellbeing activities, school holiday programs, education and training workshops, early parenting programs, worship services and many more.
The facility also provides an additional 135 four-year-old kindergarten places, resulting in far greater opportunities and access to first choice preferences for local families.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM and Casey Chief Executive Officer Glenn Patterson attended the official opening to celebrate the new community facility.
"With Selandra Family and Children's Centre and Manna Gum Family and Community Centre the only other local community facilities supporting the delivery of early years services in this area, this new facility provides an additional option for local families to access much needed programs and services," said Ms Duff
"This facility demonstrates Council's commitment to putting the community at the forefront of future planning, with community facilities acting as vital anchors which help grow greater community connectedness and increase the health and wellbeing outcomes for our residents."
With the demand in accessing Maternal and Child Health services also increasing significantly in the local area, Ramlegh has been able to support this need by accommodating an additional Maternal and Child Health Nurse in the hireable consulting room to ease the pressures on other local facilities.
The State Government contributed $1.18 million through the Growing Suburbs Fund, with the remaining $5.02 million contributed by Council.
