Updated COVID-19 Directions 2020- Residential Aged Care No 17, South Australia

Updates have been made to the Residential Aged Care Direction in South Australia.

The Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 16) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 17) (COVID-19) Direction 2020. This new Direction comes into effect at 0001 Monday 14 December 2020.

This Direction has updated the visiting limitations for Residential Aged Care Facilities, ability to work at several facilities and mask requirements.

  • There are no longer restrictions in place in relation to the number of visits a person is allowed on a particular day.
  • A personal care worker is permitted to work at several facilities; however, it is still strongly advised where possible that workers only remain employed at one site. Where employees, contractors and volunteers are working at an additional place of employment they must notify the Residential Aged Care Facility operator and must advise if any COVID-19 case is identified at that additional place of employment.
  • Face masks covering the nose and mouth are currently required to be worn at Residential Aged Care Facilities. This requirement ceases on the 23 December 2020.

The information above only highlights the changes key made and does not reflect all requirements under the Residential Aged Care Facilities No 17. Members of the public are encouraged to see the full direction for further information or contact their Residential Aged Care provider for further details.
