Interest in medical and science news expanded as the pandemic worn on.

Not unexpectedly, scientific and clinical advances at UW Medicine against the coronavirus pandemic generated the greatest UW Medicine Newsroom views in 2021. The most-viewed items this past year did, however, also include UW Medicine developments in cancer, brain, HIV and drug overdose research.

The UW Medicine Newsroom received more than 1.366 million unique page views in 2021. The site carries news releases, blog features and news video resources geared to journalists, as well as an ongoing list of the latest media coverage.

The public site also attracts a general audience, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, of people seeking news and commentary in medicine, biomedical and basic science research, consumer health, and the education of the next generation of health professionals and scientists.
