2018 STUDY GUIDE: PRACTICAL STEP BY STEP ADVICE FOR HSC STUDENTS

Over 78,000* students sitting the HSC exam will benefit from practical step-by-step advice on how to perform their personal best through the HSC Study Guide, published in The Sydney Morning Herald today.

The guide features easy-to-read tips from experienced teachers and curriculum and assessment experts from the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) on how to succeed in the exams.

NESA CEO David de Carvalho said the HSC Study Guide is an invaluable resource in the months leading up to the exams.

"Students will benefit from experienced teachers sharing their exam tips on videos filmed in their classrooms".

"Psychologists, parents and past students also provide important advice on how to maintain a healthy balance between study and personal life through what can be a challenging time."

Contributors to this year’s Study Guide include Adam Spencer on the importance of Maths, author Geraldine Brooks writes why English matters and the co-founder of technology giant Atlassian, Mike Cannon-Brookes, has an inspirational message for Technology students.

The 2018 HSC Study Guide is produced by NESA and Fairfax Media and features practical advice across all subject areas with video messages from teachers available in the digital edition. It also includes interactive infographics to help students prepare for Languages and PDHPE and to warn them about the consequences of cheating in the exam.

Copies of the Study Guide will be sent to schools, courtesy of NESA and Fairfax. The digital edition is available now: https://hsc-study-guide-2018.smh.com.au

The 2018 HSC written exams will start on Thursday 18 October with English and finish on Friday 9 November with Drama.

HSC results will be issued to students online, by email and via SMS from 6.00am on Thursday 13 December.

*NOTE: Over 78,000 students will sit one or more HSC exams.

Around 70,000 students are on track to complete 10 units in 2018 and to receive their HSC at the end of this year. ---
