Police seek witnesses to tyres slashed in Richmond

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses after more than 60 vehicles had their tyres slashed in the Richmond area recently.

Police have received a large number of reports for criminal damage in the area between 4 December and 13 December.

Investigators believe the first spate of tyre slashings occurred sometime between 9pm on 4 December and 10am on 5 December.

The vehicles targeted were parked in Kent Street, Highett Street and Waltham Street at the time.

A further number of vehicles parked in Waltham Street, Goodwood Street, Rowena Parade and Lennox Street were targeted between midnight and 9am on 12 December.

Detectives are investigating reports of further tyres being slashed in Kent Street, Highett Street, Leslie Street, Bennett Street and Buckingham Street that same morning between 3am and 9am.

Police have released CCTV footage and an image of a man, seen in the Kent Street area, who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

He is pictured wearing dark coloured pants, a white long sleeve top and a black hat.
