Police update: Assault charges, Fortitude Valley

A 42-year-old man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Fortitude Valley last month.

Around 2:20pm on Tuesday, October 27 the man was walking north along Harcourt Street between Brunswick and James Streets when he allegedly pushed the woman, who was walking in the opposite direction, up against a tree and assaulted her.

A man was identified yesterday following a public appeal for information and was subsequently arrested.

The 42-year-old Redbank Plains man has been charged with sexual assault and unlawful stalking.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
