Optica Fellows Elected as 2022 Fellows of National Academy of Inventors

WASHINGTON - Ten Fellows of Optica (formerly OSA), Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide have been elected as 2022 Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), an organization comprised of more than 4,000 inventor members and Fellows across 250 institutions worldwide. NAI Fellows are selected in recognition of their inventions that have had an impact on "the quality of life, economic development, and the welfare of society."

"Optica Fellow Elizabeth Hillman developed a way to image the living brain in #3D at high-speeds," said Optica CEO Elizabeth Rogan. "This is one example of many where our members have significantly impacted society. Congratulations to the 2022 NAI class of Fellows."

The NAI was established in 2010 in order to recognize and encourage inventors. The NAI Fellow program has selected over 1,400 fellows worldwide who collectively hold more than 42,000 patents which have resulted in over 13,000 licensed technologies and 3,200 companies, according to NAI. Election into the NAI is the highest distinction bestowed to academic inventors.

The 2022 NAI Fellows will officially be inducted at the 12th Annual Meeting of the National Academy of Inventors in Washington, DC in June 2023.
