Gold Coasters are being urged to remain vigilant and stay safe in the coming hours as heavy rainfall is forecast this evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted heavy rain that could cause localised flooding is likely to impact the City in the early hours of Monday morning.
A severe weather warning for damaging winds, heavy rainfall, abnormally high tides and dangerous surf conditions remains current.
The biggest falls are expected in the Hinterland and are likely to impact Currumbin and Tallebudgera catchments.
However, ALL residents should remain vigilant as it is a dynamic and changing situation.
The City's Local Disaster Coordination Centre will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates to the community.
Residents are urged to:
- Remain vigilant and stay informed by visiting the City's disaster dashboard, social media channels and listening to local radio
- Do not drive anywhere unless essential
- Stay away from flooded creeks - if it's flooded forget it.
- Stay away from Gold Coast beaches
- For storm or flood damage call SES on 132 500 and in a life-threatening emergency call 000 (triple zero).
Sandbagging stations will close at 6pm this evening and we will reassess the need to reopen tomorrow morning.
