The High Performance Computing for Energy Innovation (HPC4EI) Program, managed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking new industry proposals for short-term projects that could benefit from world-class DOE high performance computing (HPC) and expertise.
Under the fall 2020 HPC4EI solicitation, DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Advanced Manufacturing Office and the Office of Fossil Energy are making up to $3.75 million available to industry partners, for collaborative projects applying HPC resources at the DOE national laboratories to key challenges related to manufacturing and advanced materials development. The solicitation is sponsored by the HPC4Manufacturing and HPC4Materials Programs, two pillars of the broader HPC4EI initiative. Eligibility is limited to U.S.-based companies looking to improve energy efficiency, increase productivity, reduce energy cost and accelerate innovation through HPC modeling, simulation and data analysis.
Selected projects will be awarded up to $300,000 for compute cycles and work performed by the DOE national laboratory, university and nonprofit partners. Industry partners are required to contribute at least 20 percent of total project funding.
Informational webinars regarding the solicitation will be held on Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.
