Sex Assault Squad officers with the assistance of Geraldton Detectives have charged a 22-year-old man as a result of their investigation into a sexual assault that occurred in Rangeway on 5 September 2020.
Around 2am, a 15-year-old girl was walking along Blencowe Road between Utakarra Road and Johnston Street when it is alleged the man grabbed her by the hair from behind and dragged her into nearby bushland where he sexually assaulted her.
The 22-year-old man from Geraldton has been charged with:-
• Two counts of Indecently Deals with a Child over 13 and under 16 years;
• One count of Sexually Penetrated a Child over 13 and under 16 years in Circumstances of Aggravation;
• One count of Attempted Sexually Penetrated a Child over 13 and under 16 years; and
• One count of Deprivation of Liberty.
He is due to appear before the Geraldton Magistrates Court today, Saturday 31 October 2020.
