Police charge man with numerous offences 17 November

Regional Investigations Unit detectives with the assistance of Cannington Detectives have charged a man with numerous offences across several districts.

The man was apprehended yesterday (16 November) after crashing a car in Welshpool that he allegedly stole two hours earlier from a 64- year- old man in Cloverdale. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

The alleged offences occurred throughout October and November 2020 in Cannington, Cloverdale, East Victoria Park, South Perth and Welshpool.

It is alleged the man entered the South Perth home of a man in his 90s around 1.30am on Monday, 2 November 2020, stealing the victim's phone, wallet and Mercedes Benz station wagon.

A 23-year-old man from Kewdale has been charged with:-

• 2 x Steal Motor Vehicle;

• Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly;

• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (Circumstances of Aggravation);

• Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police;

• No Authority to Drive;

• Driver Fail to Stop (Property Damage);

• Give False Personal Details to Police;

• Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm;

• Stealing;

• 9 x Gains Benefit by Fraud; and

• 2 x Breach of Bail

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 17 November 2020.
