Police seek witnesses to aggravated robbery in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged two women in relation to a robbery in Darwin City on Monday night.

Around 11:30pm, police received a report that two females had stolen a vehicle from a 38-year-old man after allegedly threatening him with an edged weapon on Smith Street.

A few hours later around 2am, police observed the vehicle in Palmerston. After a short pursuit the vehicle was stopped on Harrison Circuit.

The women were arrested on scene.

A 25-year-old was charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Possess traffickable schedule 1 dangerous drug
  • Drive manner dangerous - pursuit
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive with prohibited drug in blood

She was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

A 39-year-old was charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Possess traffickable schedule 1 dangerous drug

She was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said, "Investigations are ongoing and police are calling for witnesses in relation to the theft of the vehicle on Smith Street and its movements thereafter.

"The grey 2007 Nissan Tiida was seen leaving the city before driving along Tiger Brennan Drive to Palmerston. Anyone with information, particularly dash-cam footage, is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference 9984415."
