Council is seeking comment from the community on the draft Queanbeyan CBD Place Plan.

"The Queanbeyan CBD Place Plan provides practical and implementable projects that stem from the vision of the Queanbeyan CBD Master Plan. I encourage the community to take a look at the plan and give feedback," Mayor Tim Overall said.

"The CBD Place Plan is a combination of strategies and interventions that provide a well considered and holistic approach to improving liveability, functionality and much needed amenity to the Queanbeyan CBD."

"In recent years, we have made a number of improvements to the Queanbeyan CBD, with the Crawford Lifestyle Precinct and the revamped riverfront. While we have a lot to be proud of in Queanbeyan, the plan looks to build on strong foundations and reuse under-utilised places, to make them meaningful and inclusive places that people want to be in."

"The Plan highlights seven different project focus areas in the Queanbeyan CBD and provides quick win, medium term and long term intervention ideas for each of the focus areas."

"The Plan starts at a high level, considering the implications of the various strategies and plans that have led to this point, but it gets down to the real practical steps, considering things like paving and lighting."

Over the last four years, Council has adopted a range of plans and strategies to guide the future development of Queanbeyan to position it as an attractive centre to visit, live, play, and invest. The 2017 CBD Transformation Strategy and the Queanbeyan CBD Spatial Master Plan 2019, along with the Queanbeyan Retail Growth Strategy recommend a place-led approach as a key factor in the Queanbeyan CBD transformation.

The new draft Queanbeyan CBD Place Plan is a tactical plan that focuses on seven priority locations across the CBD.
