Update to Cross Border Travel - updated COVID-19 directions, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 4) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 5) (COVID-19) Direction 2020. This new Direction comes into effect at 0001hrs on Wednesday 17 June 2020.

The Direction has amended previous directions to provide an exemption from the application of the Direction to all travellers arriving directly from Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.

All travellers who are currently in quarantine, having arrived directly from Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania will be released from the need to self-quarantine effective 0001hrs tonight only if they have travelled directly from one of these three States.

All other provisions previously contained within the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 4) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 are contained within the new Direction and still require members of the public travelling from other States or Territories to comply with the quarantine or Essential Traveler provisions.

The Essential Traveller provisions have been amended to clarify the requirement to enter the state with specialist skills critical to maintain key industries or businesses and remote or isolated workers (FIFO or DIDO workers).

It should be noted that quarantine requirements for travellers traveling from South Australia to Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania may still apply.
