Ringwood students will now be learning in modern and bigger classrooms with the opening of their new senior learning centre.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Ringwood Dustin Halse today visited Ringwood Secondary College to open the new $5.5 million centre.
These works complete the second stage of the school's redevelopment, which features classrooms, a collaborative central space, break out areas and a VCE centre.
The first floor connects to the upper level of the existing workshop and trades building, interconnecting the school's learning spaces.
The first stage of Ringwood Secondary College's redevelopment has already been completed, and included constructing a new junior school building, replacing 11 relocatables with permanent classrooms, refurbishing the library and reconfiguring the car park.
The Andrews Labor Government will also invest a further $14.7 million through the Victorian Budget 2020/21 for stage 3 of the school's master plan - to construct a new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) building, as well as a new canteen.
This builds on the Government's investment of more than $13 million to complete the first and second stage of upgrades at the school.
In the past five years, the Labor Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades - creating more than 10,000 construction jobs - and is now ahead of schedule of its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
